Canon PowerShot SX260 HS

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the camera that I used extensively in my London vacation is Canon PowerShot SX260 HS. Not because I decided suddenly that my faithful DSLR (Canon EOS 40D) couldn’t rise to the occasion, but because I wanted to evaluate better, in real life conditions, a type of compact travel camera that seems to be very popular among lots of people.

Instead of offering you a technical review, my intention is to share my photographic experiences with this camera along with examples and practical advice on how to use it in certain circumstances. You can substitute this camera with a similar one without losing the value of my advice.

On the other hand, the importance of a good technical review cannot be ignored, especially when buying a camera. At the time I purchased my SX260, I had to extrapolate the information found on the same site for its predecessor — Canon PowerShot SX230 HS. A good thing about the Canon cameras is the fact that they evolve constantly rather than changing radically: after a while you learn what to expect in the next model with less excitement but with more confidence. As consequence, PowerShot SX260 hasn’t been a disappointment despite of some features I wished Canon would include in their latest model.

If you are technically inclined or with the immediate intention of buying a travel camera or just simply curious, please take your time to read the review of the Canon PowerShot SX260 HS because I will not review it in my blog. The following posts will use photographic material mostly captured with SX260 and will include my own personal experiences but without any intention of competing with professional reviewers.
